Concussion Return-to-Learn
If you experience a concussion, managing academic requirements carefully makes a huge difference in your recovery. TWU has an official policy that ensures you and your professors have a plan for the semester.
For the first few days post-concussion, do not attend classes, take exams, or work on assignments. Your return-to-learn plan will help you and your professors reschedule missed work. During this early stage of your recovery, you can try brief (10 minute) light academic tasks such as reading your textbook or printed copies of course materials, listening to a lecture recording, or reviewing class notes.
The Return-to-Learn plan will guide you week by week and will put in place academic support, especially for tests, exams, lengthy assignments, and digital work.
In 2024-25, 97% of students with concussions who followed the Return-to-Learn plan completed the semester successfully and continued into the next, with an average semester GPA of 3.13.
