Admission Requirements
For North American or Native English Speaking Students:
- Application: Complete the application online.
- References: Request two letters of reference. One reference should be academic and one must be from a manager or supervisor in your organization familiar with your character, work performance, and leadership potential. If not available, two academic references are acceptable.
- Admissions Statement: All students must submit a personal admissions statement of 500-800 words. This statement should describe your academic and personal goals, key experiences leading to your desire for academic advancement, and reasons for pursuing this program at Trinity Western University.
- Transcripts: Send an official copy of your post-secondary transcript from all institutions you have attended. The MBA program requires a GPA of at least 3.0 based on the final two years of your undergraduate program.
- Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Optional: The GMAT is not required for admission. TWU reserves the right to request it for the few applicants who may have a lower academic background or insufficient quantitative or business studies background.
- Entrance Interview: Some applicants will be selected to complete an interview (which may occur by telephone conference call or Skype interview via the internet). The interview will evaluate an applicant's level of maturity, interpersonal skills, career focus, and motivation.
- Resume/CV: Work experience is not required for this program, though past work or volunteer experience can strengthen your application.
*EMBA also requires 10+ years of professional work experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.
For International or Non-Native English Speaking Students
International students can apply for direct admission to the MBA program. To do so, complete the application steps above and submit the additional requirement of an academic IELTS score of at least 7.0 (Writing/Reading 6.5+, Speaking/Listening: 6.0+), an iBT TOEFL score of 5+ (Reading, Listening, Speaking: 4; Writing 4.5) or for TOEFL exams taken prior to January 21, 2026, a score of 100+ (Writing/Reading: 23+, Speaking/Listening: 20+), or a DuoLingo score of 130 (Literacy/Comprehension 120+, Conversation/production 105+). A course-by-course degree evaluation is required for all post-secondary transcripts from institutions outside Canada & the US. If you do not meet the English test scores noted above, you may be eligible for conditional admission via the Graduate Transition Program (GTP). Conditional admission via the GTP requires a minimum IELTS of 6.0 (with writing band no lower than 6.0), a Duolingo of 105 (writing 105+) or an iBT TOEFL of 4 (writing 4). The GTP is a one-semester (4-month) program, and a student may enter the MBA program after successful completion of the GTP semester.
