The Master of Christian Studies in Marriage and Family Therapy program provides the training and qualifications to work with individuals, families, relationships, and groups.
Our program is the only Marriage and Family Therapy program in B.C., and one of very few in Canada. The focus is on training clinicians to work from a systemic perspective. Our graduates are qualified to work not only with individuals but also with families and couples. We provide rigorous academic and clinical training that requires over 500 hours of direct client hours and clinical supervision. MFT graduates qualify to register as Registered Clinical Counsellors with BCACC (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors), CCC (Canadian Certified Counsellor) with CCPA (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association) and meet the requirements to pursue registration as RMFT (Registered Marriage and Family Therapist) with CACFT (Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy) or AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy). The MFT program is accredited by CACFT.
Our full-time faculty hold doctorate degrees in marriage and family therapy or related fields and are directly involved in clinical practice. MFT graduates work in a variety of settings: counselling agencies, not-for-profit clinics, governmental agencies, and private practice.
