'I am a person of mission now': 500th grad of TWU’s MA in Leadership

Trinity Western University’s MA in Leadership transformed Yihong Zeng’s outlook on business.

Before attending TWU, business was about numbers, outcome, and personal gain for Zeng. In the 17 years she spent with American International Assurance Company, Ltd., she found herself so concerned with profit that she was disregarding customers and employees.

A few years ago, she decided it was time for a change. “I wanted to live out God’s principles, but didn’t know how,” Zeng said. She decided to complete a degree at TWU specifically because of the servant leadership perspective it provided, which showed her how to bring people-oriented principles into the workplace.

On the day of her graduation in 2015, Zeng celebrated both her degree and her renewed heart. Now she focuses on people, and she hopes this will help empower and change her employees.

“This program has helped change the direction of my life. I am a person of mission now, whether at home or work,” she said.

The fact that Zeng is the 500th graduate of the program only makes the accomplishment more memorable.“This reward will be etched into my heart,” she said. “This program was a blessing.”

Zeng was among 48 students who graduated from the MA in Leadership program in 2015 and one of 17 who took courses in Mandarin as well as English.
