Common Questions

Purpose of the Career Fair:

To provide a convenient opportunity for students and alumni to network with future employers who are hiring for part-time and full-time employment opportunities.

Who should participate?

ALL Students should plan on coming out to the career fair for networking. First, second and third year students can ask questions and find out the type of requirements they'll need when they graduate and plan on applying. Graduating students and alumni should definitely attend as these employers have expressed a genuine interest in TWU grads by attending our fair.

Why should you participate?

If graduating, the Career Fair is an excellent way to network and look to secure an interview for a new career. As a student who will be returning to TWU next year, the Fair can help in two ways:

  • Many employers have summer employment or co-op/internships you could potentially apply for.
  • The Fair also allows you face-to-face interaction with a number of industries in which you might be interested in pursuing a career. Learning and gathering information on various industries, their hiring practices and training programs will help you be prepared when the time comes. It is also a great time for you to practice your networking skills.

How should you prepare for the Career Fair?

Being prepared is key, as the Fair may be the first impression a company has of you. Be sure to pre-register for the Fair so you receive advice from the Career Development Office that will help you prepare. If you want help with your resume drop by the Learning Commons (formerly Student Success Centre) on Wednesdays.
